Isabel feels honoured to support her patients in addressing important issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma and chronic pain that have brought them to her practice. As a woman of Brazilian heritage living in Victoria, B.C. she has come to learn the importance of being inclusive and to welcome and celebrate diversity in her practice. She is especially inspired to support issues linked to feelings of low self-worth, inclusion and belonging. A counselling session with Isabel is a collaborative approach where respect, safety and well-being will always come first.
Isabel’s approach to clinical counselling is emotion-focused, experiential and relational. She is passionate about holding a safe space for her clients to explore the interconnectedness of their body and mind which fosters adaptation and well-being. Finding inner balance is most effective when the client is able to develop strategies that connect talking about their feelings and the related experiences that are present within their bodies. The relational work that Isabel offers helps her clients to feel less alone in their journey while building a trusting and respectful relationship which fosters the opportunity to develop openness and enthusiasm for ‘biting’ into life’s pains and challenges with greater taste and strength.
Isabel earned my MA in Social Psychology, aiming to explore how the cooking experience facilitates the individual towards the development of self-understanding and connection to others. In addition to counselling, she has a deeply rooted background in the kitchen and enjoys sharing pleasurable moments with people around the table and food. After several years working as a psychosocial researcher in Brazil, she decided to pause her academic path in psychology to begin cooking professionally. The integration of cooking and counselling has always been an area of interest for her.
Isabel is a BC Registered Clinical Counsellor, and is committed to BCACC’s professional standards of practice and their code of ethical conduct. She has completed the San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Training and is dedicated to providing a culturally safe environment in her practice.

She finds that, in the context of safe and caring relationships, people continually find the tools, resources, strength, and insight within themselves to steer their lives in new, life-giving directions.

Elysia came to acupuncture while studying western herbal medicine at Pacific Rim College 8 years ago, where she was introduced to the profound effect that acupuncture has on the nervous system, and the subtle but mind-blowing ways that Chinese medicine can reframe often unexplainable experiences and symptoms. She finished the herbal medicine program, and then four years later, decided to return to Pacific Rim to study acupuncture. Elysia graduated from her program in December 2021 with high honours, and am now in good standing with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia (CTCMA) as
a Registered Acupuncturist. Acupuncture has a direct and powerful impact on the nervous system, which has a cascade effect on other systems of the body, making it an incredible modality to treat such a wide variety of symptoms – from pain to anxiety to digestive complaints. Nervous system regulation is a significant part of Elysia’s acupuncture treatment protocols, whether as a primary focus or alongside
treatment for other conditions or injuries.
In her practice, she brings together several modalities and worldviews, including Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), neuroscience, trauma theories such as polyvagal and Somatic Experiencing, and orthopaedic & myofascial understandings. Elysia’s practice is trauma informed, and uses gentle needling techniques which minimize pain and discomfort.
Her areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
Pain and injuries from traumatic events (such as automobile accidents), stress, chronic pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, mental health struggles, digestive disorders, hormonal imbalances, and the nervous system-gut connection.
